2020-2021 School Reopening Plan Draft| July 22, 2020

Rutherford County Schools remains deeply committed both to the health and well-being of students, employees, and the broader community and to its mission to prepare all students for lifelong learning in partnership with families and communities. The proposed 2020-2021 School Reopening Plan (“Plan”) outlines specific arrangements for reopening schools in a safe, healthy, and responsible way. The Rutherford County Board of Education is expected to take action on the adoption of this plan at a special called meeting on July 22, 2020.

Parent Update | Pandemic - Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT)

We understand that a letter from the Department of Social Services regarding the Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) cards was mailed out today and potentially contained incorrect guardian and/or address information. Since this information was collected at the state level, NCDPI and DSS have been made aware of the issues and are working together to correct errors in the data prior to issuing the cards later this month. At this time, there is no need to contact your school since this issue is being addressed at the state level.

Emergency Meals-to-You Application

You can sign up here for the Meals-to-You delivery service at no cost to your family, and we’ll make sure a box for each child in the household is on its way soon. In order to participate in this program, your school district must be registered with the program prior to you filling out this form. If your school district is not on the drop-down menu found on the Participant Information page, you will not be able to register at this time. Please check with your school district to make sure they are registered to participate in Emergency Meals-to-You.

RCS Parent Update- March 27, 2020

The county and municipal governments of Rutherford County executed a Joint Supplemental Proclamation of a State of Emergency this morning that includes a local stay-at-home order, effective from 6:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2020, through 6:00 AM on Friday, April 17, 2020. Late this afternoon, Governor Roy Cooper announced Executive Order No. 121 that includes a statewide stay-at-home order, which begins at 5:00 PM on Monday, March 30, 2020, and remains in effect for thirty (30) days unless repealed, replaced, or rescinded by another applicable Executive Order. In anticipation of questions you may have, RCS wants to provide guidance about the application of the local Proclamation and statewide Executive Order to Rutherford County Schools' remote learning, food service, and student support programs.
